QCA Minerva
The Minerva Solution is designed to support the awarding of diplomas, and will be operational by September 2008. Minerva is the working title for the system that will hold learner accounts which will enable constituent qualification results to be brought together and aggregated to produce a Diploma award and grade. Each centre will need to open an account for every learner taking a diploma, and each of these learners will need a ULN to allow the units to be aggregated. Component Awarding Bodies (CABs) are awarding bodies which will award component qualifications, which include established qualifications such as GCSEs and newly developed components including principal learning, project and functional skills. Diploma Awarding Bodies (DABs) are awarding bodies that will award the overall diploma on the basis of the data held by the Minerva system.
